ONCE UPON A TIME

This is the space for all of you to tell any tales...whether it be past or present.  OK guys, no x-rated stuff!
Please use the "Contact Us" form to submit your story or muses about our school days.

Dear Classmates, Old Friends and New Friends,

All of you together made our MHS 50th reunion absolutely perfect! It truly was a great team effort to have all that fun! I just have to thank you andthose special people you were so fortunate to marry (our new friends) for making it all happen!

Yes, we will have another reunion….in 2010! Same place! And we will still have as much fun… if not more!

For you that were unable to attend….we missed you and you missed a great party!!!!! Plan on attending the next celebration and we promise YOU will have fun.

Our oldest friends are walking memory books reminding us of who we were. Unconditionally caring they believe in our cuteness factor even as our body parts surrender to gravity. Our new friends give us hope. They accept us for what we have become…..all grown up!   I salute all of you dear friends!
We have kept our old friends and made new ones….we are blessed with silver and gold!

Good food and great friends always have a way of showing up at a party together…..talking loudly and laughing wildly, a few tears, lots of hugs, singing together and doing the old Texas Two-Step again. Wow! What memories!

There are so many people to thank for making our celebration special. Really afraid I am going to leave someone out. It truly was a team effort and everyone just pitched right in.

Jerry Don did our nametags again, which I am so grateful! Jerry, you WILL be there in 2010….right?
Ellen kept our money straight and tried to keep me sane! I did have the last minute jitters …just fretting I had left something or someone out and things would not go as planned.   She really deserves a medal!
Thank all you guys that brought CDs and a special thanks to Kay Watson.
David Geary held the golf tournament, and I hear they had just too much fun! I hear David is a very good golfer and Judy right behind him.
Julia Alexander Nance got us all together for lunch on Friday. It was yum and fun!
Ron Walsh did our class picture Friday night. Thank you Ron. We are so sorry you had to leave…..You would have loved the Saturday night party!
Layne did an outstanding job for our business meeting….short and sweet! He obeyed my command. You all voted to keep the website going for 3 more years. You also voted to keep me as the chairperson for the next event. Under protest I think I accepted. My friend Judy always gets me in trouble!   Wondering if Ellen can take care of me one more time.
Kenneth Cook showed us a video of his visit with Sally Sue Young. Can you believe how well she looks? He also brought a humongous card for us all to sign to send to her.
Trish Hammond Sherrill did our Memoriam. She always blesses us in more ways than one. What a special person we have amongst us! Trish also brought another humongous card for Nancy Cosper for all to sign. Our prayers continue for our friend.
Janet and Ray Summers brought lots of cocktail food for Saturday afternoon. As I said above, food and friends make for a party.
Diane Woods Thomas brought lots of decoration for us to decorate for Saturday night. It was so much fun with all participating. The guys blew up the balloons and all the gals just pitched right in to make our big room beautiful! Ok, maybe not beautiful, but “gaudy beautiful.   Well, half the fun was being together…getting a job done! Thank goodness for scotch tape!
Julia cleaned up after us…. just love the picture of her with the vacuum cleaner!
Saturday night finally arrived and we were prepared for a celebration. Mike Clancy, our entertainer, was absolutely great! We learned that Gloria Milburn is not as shy as we once thought. We learned Bev Harper could sing. We learned that Ben Milburn and Bobby Crider love to sing along with Elvis. We learned that Larry CAN dance (even though he says different). We learned that Jean Ann Roberts loves to dance….and thank you Jean Ann for getting it all started!   I was so worried that we couldn’t stay up until midnight….boy was I wrong!
Nancy Crider loves to sing….. we now call her Reba! She can laugh and cry all at the same time….what talent!
Thank all of you, both old and new friends, for making this such a special night!
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank Larry Bilhartz for our goodbyes on Sunday morning. We all agree he did an outstanding job….only made me cry once. I really had to twist his arm to accept this job but he finally graciously accepted.    Thank you Larry! You sent us off with glad hearts! The perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Name: JERRY/ANDREA(ECKERMAN 62)JOHNSON

Comments:  My first date with Jerry was in fall of 1964 and we went to
MHS LOBOS VS.PECOS Football game.  We sat way up top about 50 yd line.
As we sat there I ask Jerry "Do you remember where we parked the car?"
he replied "yeah sure".
At games end we were the last to leave as we had to wait until parking
lot was empty and that little Ford Fairlane was all by itself .  We
still laugh about that when at times we still lose the car. When I think
about it, it seems only yesterday to have been 43 years ago.    the end
